Both Catskill and Athens are small towns nearby Hudson. If you stay in Catskill, you can get to and from Hudson by car. If you stay in Athens, you can get to and from Hudson (at certain times of the day) by ferry — or by car, as well.
We strongly recommend Piaule in Catskill (we've stayed there and loved it). Or Stewart House in Athens.
